Monthly Song Critique + Challenge – 2/15

By admin

MSG holds its monthly song critique on Wednesday, February 15th 7 p.m. at Noodles & Co., 3600 University Avenue. Bring a song or lyric to play live or on a CD and get instant feedback from local songwriters, and give some of your own. Incomplete, new or nearly new songs , in particular, are encouraged.

***We’ve added a new feature to the critique called the Monthly Song Challenge. This month’s challenge is to write a “road song.” Songwriters are urged to interpret the challenge in any way that helps write a new tune! (Examples of well known road songs: Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf; America by Paul Simon; Fast Car by Tracy Chapman; I Can’t Drive 55 by Sammy Hagar).

Bring your “road song” to the critique to discuss (in addition to another tune or as your monthly critique tune) and we’ll compare notes on them.

Check out the Events page for more details and we’ll see you there!

Annual Membership Meeting rescheduled – Jan.29th (save the date!)

By admin

Happy New Year! This year’s annual Madison Songwriters Guild membership meeting will be held on Sunday, January 29th at 1:00 pm at Noodles & Company on University Avenue. This is the Sunday before the Superbowl.

We’re asking all current (and future!) members to come and participate. You can sign up on the spot. Why should you attend? This is where we have a chance to talk about plans for 2012, elect board members, brainstorm a little bit and just get to know each other a bit better. After the official business is done, feel free to stick around and play some music.

Stay tuned for updates to the location and events. We’ll see you there!
