Monthly Song Critique – 8/17 @ 7

MSG holds its monthly song critique this Wednesday, August 17th at 7 p.m. at Noodles & Co., 3600 University Avenue.

Songwriter Retreat 7/29-7/31

The Madison Songwriters Guild is teaming up with folk icon Tret Fure for a Songwriter Retreat called “The Joy of Self Expression,” scheduled for July 29-31 at Bethel Horizons in Dodgeville. Last year’s retreat with Tret got rave reviews from everyone who attended, so put this one on your calendar now.

The cost is $249 including the workshop and 2 mights of lodging and meals, or $449 for 2 people. Contact Rich Baumann for questions or registration, or you can register directly on Tret’s site.

Tune Up Your Songwriting – June 8th

Come to the Willy St. Co-op East on Wednesday, June 8th for the Tune Up Your Songwriting workshop hosted by Rich Baumann.

Bring your instrument if you are interested in sharing an original song at the end of the workshop or come with a recording of a favorite song for the group to listen to and discuss. A CD player will be available.

This event starts with a 5:30 potluck/meet and greet followed by the 6:30 workshop. Admission is a suggested $5-15 donation.

Willy St. Co-op East is located at 1221 Williamson St. in Madison.

*Note that Willy St. is under heavy construction, so out of consideration for Co-op shoppers, please park on a side street.

Tune Up Your Songwriting! 1/12 – New Event!

Come to the Willy St. Co-op East on Wednesday, January 12th for the debut of Tune Up Your Songwriting! Jim Schwall and Dave Schindele will present a workshop about songwriting and lead a discussion. As part of the workshop, you are invited to bring a recording of a favorite song for the group to discuss. Several will be selected to illustrate what makes a good song. A CD player will be available.

Song Critique added – December 15th

The last Madison Songwriters Guild Song Critique of 2010 is scheduled for Wednesday, December 15th at 7 p.m. at Noodles & Co., 3600 University Avenue in Madison. Bring a tune and get some immediate feedback from listeners/songwriters or come to hear some brand new music from local talent.
