February Songwriters in the Round – Wed, 2/24

MSG kicks off Songwriters in the Round for 2016 on Wednesday, February 24th at 7:00 PM at The Brink Lounge at 701 E. Washington in Madison. Featured songwriters this month include Joe “Snare” Vosen, Stephen Lee Rich and TBurns. Cover is only $5.

Joe “Snare” Vosen – Singer, songwriter and playwright. He’ll join us with some new songs as well as song from his musical produced by the Sun Prairie Civic Theater called “Caffeine Dreams.”

Stephen Lee Rich – This will be The Old Vaudevillian’s last local club show before he takes off on tour through the Midwest, New England, and the Mid-Atlantic states next month. Come get the laughs while you can!

TBurns – This fellow is new to Songwriters in the Round and will delight you with tunes based in the older Country Music style.

Stay tuned for the March SIR when Nancy Rost will bring some February Album Writers (www.fawm.org) with her, each with plenty of new songs to dazzle and delight!

All NEW Songwriters in the Round – Jan. 27th

MSG kicks off Songwriters in the Round (SIR) for 2016 on Wednesday, January 27th at 7:00 PM at The Brink Lounge at 701 E. Washington in Madison. Featured songwriters this month include Ervin Allen, Sandy Andina and Dave Schindele. Cover is only $5.

Ervin Allen – Erv’s been out of circulation for a long time due an injury to his arm, but he’s finally able to play again. His country-based songs will make you smile.

Sandy Andina – Best know as the frequent musical partner of Stephen Lee Rich, this Chicago-based songwriter brings insight and laughter to her work. You’ve probably heard Stephen cover her song “Caffeine.”

Dave Schindele – The Old Philosopher is back with his keyboard, his musical questions, and some surprising answers.

Stay tuned for even more great original music at SIR in February featuring Joe “Snare” Vosen, Stephen Lee Rich and TBurns and then a special February Album Writing Month showcase in March featuring Nancy Rost!

Songwriter Showcase – Friday, 1/8/16

Head over to Tuvalu Coffeehouse at 300 S. Main in Verona on Friday, January 8, at 7:30 pm for MSG’s Songwriter Showcase. Lynn Smith will be substitute host for this monthly event featuring great area songwriters, followed by an open mic for anyone who wants to perform their original compositions. This month will feature rootsy guitarist T Burns and song stylist Paul Creswell. Suggested $5 donation, $3 for students/seniors.

Songwriter Showcase – Fri, 12/4

Head over to Tuvalu Coffeehouse at 300 S. Main in Verona on Friday, December 4 at 7:30 pm for MSG’s Songwriter Showcase. John Duggleby hosts this monthly event featuring great area songwriters, followed by an open mic for anyone who wants to perform their original compositions. This month John welcomes singer/songwriters Cris and Ann Plata, founders of the iconic band Extra Hot. Don’t miss this chance to see these area legends in a rare intimate setting.

John Duggleby hosts Madison Songwriting Guild’s monthly Songwriter Showcase with special guests Christine Costanzo and Lynn Smith, followed by an open mic for original material, at Tuvalu Coffeehouse, 300 South Main Street in Verona on Friday November 6, from 7:30-9:30 pm.  Suggested donation $5 adults, $3 students/seniors.  For more information, call 838-7834. 

Monthly Song Workshop – Wed, 10/21

MSG holds its monthly song critique on Wednesday, October 21st at 7 p.m. at Noodles & Company on University Avenue. Bring a lyric or song to play live or on a recording and get instant feedback from local songwriters and hear some great new music and give some feedback from your perspective.

Cost is $5 for non-members, free for members and you can sign up on the spot with an annual membership of only $25. Incomplete, new or nearly new songs are encouraged!

Songwriters in the Round – Wed, Oct 28th

MSG holds it’s premier event, Songwriters in the Round, on Wednesday, October 28th at 7:00 PM at The Brink Lounge at 701 E. Washington in Madison. Featured songwriters this month include Billy MaynardBarry Wayne Callen and Stephen Lee Rich. Cover is $5.

Billy Maynard – Billy’s Rock and pop based songs have wowed people for years in Madison and in Rockford, IL (where he lives). Many Madison musicians know him best as one of the top engineers and producers at Paradyme Productions recording studios.

Barry Wayne Callen – It’s been a long time since this Madison-based songwriter has graced our stage with his unique take on almost everything. We’re pleased to finally have him back.

Stephen Lee Rich – Stephen Lee’s tunes range from satirical looks at politics and the coming elections to serious examinations of day to day living. He’s back this time with lots of new material as well as old favorites.
