Songwriter Showcase – Fri, August 5th

On Friday, August 5 at 7 pm, John Duggleby hosts his monthly MSG Songwriter Showcase at Tuvalu Coffeehouse, 300 S. Main St. in downtown Verona.  After kick-starting the room with a few, John welcomes MSG member and Madison Area Music Assn. (MAMA) award winner Karen Wheelock, and Chicago favorite Laura Joy, followed by Dane County’s only originals-only open mic—if you wrote it, come and share it!  Unwind from the work week in Tuvalu’s living-room ambiance with your favorite beer, wine or caffeinated concoction.  Suggested donation $5, and a bargain at any price!

Songwriters in the Round – July 27 @ the Brink

MSG’s July Songwriters in the Round cruises through The Brink Lounge on Wednesday, July 27th at 7:00 PM , 701 E. Washington in Madison.

This month is a bit unique With Joe “Snare” Vosen, Dave Schindele, and John Max Jacobs. Each is a fine songwriter. But, these three also work together to back each other vocally and instrumentally on each other’s tunes. It promises to be great music with a fuller than usual sound.

Cover is only $5.

Song Workshop – Wed, July 20th

MSG’s monthly song critique/workshop is happening this Wednesday, July 20th at 7 p.m. at Noodles & Company on University Avenue. Bring a lyric or song to play live or on a recording and get instant feedback from local songwriters. Listen to some new original songs and give your impressions. Cost is $5 for non-members, free for members and you can sign up on the spot with an annual membership of only $25. Incomplete, new or nearly new songs are encouraged.

June Songwriters in the Round – Wed, 6/22

MSG’s June Songwriters in the Round swings through The Brink Lounge on Wednesday, June 22nd at 7:00 PM , 701 E. Washington in Madison. Featured songwriters this month include Thistle, Lynn Smith and Stephen Lee Rich. Cover is only $5.

Thistle – Thistle is a long-time Madison performer. Her music involves insightful and
melodic observations about the environment and community. She’ll sing
tunes from her CD, “Animal Dreams”

Lynn Smith – Lynn is a Madison favorite and always welcome at SIR with his
insightful and inventive songwriting.

Stephen Lee Rich – The Old Vaudevillian has started writing again (Danger,
Will Robinson). His new material is just as surprising as the old.

Songwriters in the Round – April 27th

MSG’s April Songwriters in the Round rocks on Wednesday, April 27th at 7:00 PM at The Brink Lounge, 701 E. Washington in Madison. Featured songwriters this month include Lisa V. White, Wolfgang Lochner and Jason Glomp. Cover is only $5.

Lisa V. White – This Madison native will rock out with original songs influenced by bands like Heart and Fleetwood Mac. She will get you movin’ and groovin’!

Wolfgang Lochner – Wolfgang has a unique vision when it comes to his tunes. His rockin’ point of view is one of the most exciting we’ve had on Songwriters in the Round. We’re thrilled to have him back.

Jason Glomp – Jason is new to our show. Like our other two performers he has a bent toward rock. He has many fine songs of his own and has spent some of the last ten years collaborating with Wolfgang. It’s going to be a one of a kind night!

Songwriter Showcase – Fri, April 1

Head over to Tuvalu Coffeehouse at 300 S. Main in Verona on Friday, April 1 at 7:30 pm for MSG’s Songwriter Showcase.  This month will feature one of the area’s most popular singer-songwriters, multiple MAMA award winner Beth Kille, who will play a full hour set.  Opening will be Showcase host John Duggleby and MSG’s John Jacobs, joining forces for a mini-set. Following these artists will be followed by an open mic for anyone who wants to perform their original compositions.  Don’t miss this one!

Special March Songwriters in the Round – 3/23 @ 7pm

Spring through March with Nancy Rost, Madison’s most prolific songwriter, as she leads our annual post-FAWM show. FAWM stands for February Album Writing Month when people from all over the world gather online to write 14 songs (or 14 and a half this Leap Year!) during the shortest month of the year. Nancy will bring two of her favorite local FAWM-ers to the Brink stage with her to perform some of their best new work. Join Nancy, John “Das Binky” Argentiero and John Crossman for a night of new and original, intelligent and surprising music. All that for only $5!
