Congratulations to new MSG member Vanessa Tortolano, who won the February Showdown in January and the prizes that go with the win. You can hear Vanessa locally performing solo, or as a vocalist with the band, Subvocal. Welcome to the Madison Songwriters Guild, Vanessa!

Randy’s Recording and MSG are pleased to once again offer a recording seminar for the performing MSG songwriter. If you’ve always wanted a studio recording or need to update your press packet, this is designed for you!
Each songwriter will record a basic demo (guitar/piano and voice). The steps in the recording process will be explained along the way. Then the group will evaluate the demos for recordability and Randy will choose one to produce at the studio.
Every songwriter will go home with his or her recording, plus a compilation of the other demos done that day. This is the second time Randy’s and MSG have teamed up to offer this event, and the participants at the first session were very enthusiastic about the results.
Specs:
Cost is $35 for MSG members, with room for 12 people

The Songwriter Showdown is restarting January 13, 2010! It will be open to all MSG members, and all are encouraged to attend and participate, either in the contest or in the voting. There will be cool prizes awarded each month, and anyone can sign up for MSG membership on the spot. Check out the Events page for more info on the return of this favorite MSG event.
