Songwriters in the Round – 2/23

Stop by The Brink Lounge on Wednesday, February 23rd at 7:00 p.m. for this month’s Songwriters in the Round. Madison Songwriters Guild’s premier event features tons of original music starring a rotating cast of local and regional songwriters.

February’s featured songwriters include:

Mark Adkins – the mastermind behind Madison’s favorite psychedelic folk noir band, Subvocal.
John Argentiero – strips away the electric layers to attempt acoustic world domination
Steve Schad – an accomplished acoustic guitarist with an eclectic style.

Song Critique – 2/16 @ 7pm

The next song critique happens on Wednesday, February 16th at 7 p.m. at Noodles & Co., 3600 University Avenue. Bring your new and nearly new songs to play live or on CD. Give and get instant feedback on your tunes from a live studio audience of local songwriters. Check out the Events page for more details.

Songwriter Night – 2/10 @ Water House Foods

This Thursday night, guest host Dave Schindele takes over this intimate songwriter night which will feature performers Patrick McCormick and Stephen Lee Rich sharing their original music at Water House Foods in Lake Mills at 7:00 p.m. Cover is only $5 and there will be a chance for audience members to share a song right before the performance at 6:30. Take a short drive out to Water House Foods and support great music at a great new venue.

Tune Up Your Songwriting – Wed., 2/9

Come to the Willy St. Co-op East on Wednesday, February 9th for this new workshop called Tune Up Your Songwriting.  Dave Schindele hosts presenter and talented storyteller, Tom Kastle. Tom will talk about his experiences with songwriting followed by a group discussion.

As part of the workshop, you are invited to bring a recording of a favorite song for the group to analyze. Several songs will be selected to illustrate what makes a good song. A CD player will be available.

This event starts with a 5:30 potluck/meet and greet followed by the 6:30 workshop. Admission is a suggested $5-10 donation.

Willy St. Co-op East is located at 1221 Williamson St. in Madison. Out of consideration for Co-op shoppers, please park on the street. There may be time to share original songs at the end of the workshop, so please bring your instrument if you are interested.
