Many thanks to John Duggleby for his many years of hosting the very successful Songwriters Showcase at this venue. An event like this takes time to plan and pull off each month and John deserves some time to spend on his ever-expanding career. Go check out John at one of his shows!

Songwriter Showcase – Friday, December 2nd

By admin

After founding the monthly MSG Songwriter Showcase almost five years ago,  John Duggleby hosts his final event on Friday, December 2 at 7 pm at Tuvalu Coffeehouse, 300 S. Main St. in downtown Verona.  (Fear not, John Jacobs and Lynn Smith are taking it over)  For this farewell party John and his duo partner Dave Hopper will play a mini-set opening for the fabulous McDougals, who will perform for a full hour.

Following will be Dane County’s only originals-only open mic—if you wrote it, come and share it!  The evening will conclude with a group jam of John’s song “Meet Me at the Watering Hole,” an easy G-C-D three-chorder (with a stray B minor shuck in).  All musicians are welcome to join in—especially if you play something other than guitar.

Unwind from the work week in Tuvalu’s living-room ambiance with your favorite beer, wine or caffeinated concoction.  Suggested donation $5, and a bargain at any price!  Don’t miss this one—help send John off in style!

Songwriters in the Round – Wed, Oct 26th @ The Brink

By admin

MSG’s July Songwriters in the Round crash-lands in The Brink Lounge on Wednesday, October 26th at 7:00 PM , 701 E. Washington in Madison.

This last SIR of the year features Dave SchindeleJohn Max Jacobs and Stephen Lee Rich.

Dave has been playing piano, singing, and writing poetry for as long as he can remember and loves the power of music, and, even more than a good performance, a song well-written.

John Max Jacobs is a musical chameleon. He’s played and sung in classic rock bands, jazz/lounge duos, a country/oldies band, church choirs, nursing homes and hospitals. Underneath he’s a hopeless romantic and a sucker for pop music and dance rhythms. He writes love songs for the world.

Stephen Lee Rich is a folksinger, stand-up, comic, country singer, songwriter, and master of ceremonies who will contribute his own unique brand of songs and madness to the event.

All that for a paltry $5.00! What’s not to like?
