Song of the Year Winners!

The final Song Showdown was held at Tuvalu on Thursday, May 2nd and the results are in. All the songwriters did a great job, the house was packed, and it was very close.

Host John Duggleby, the judges and sponsors and the Madison Songwriters Guild is happy to announce this year’s winner, Mitch L’Herault! Congratulations Mitch and enjoy the prizes and continued songwriting success.

Song of the Year Showdown – Thursday, May 2nd!

Head over to Tuvalu Coffeehouse, 300 S. Main in Verona on Thursday, May 2nd at 7:30 pm for MSG’s Song of the Year competition between winners of Song Showdowns for the past year.  One lucky songwriter will receive hundreds of dollars in prizes donated by Broadjam, Audio for the Arts, Guitar Center, Heid Music, Lane’s Lutherie and Greg Ginter’s Guitar Shop of WisconsinJohn Duggleby hosts the event and welcomes celebrity judges including:

-       Roy Ekins, CEO of Broadjam

-       Stephanie Elkins, host of Wisconsin Public Radio’s Simply Folk

-       Buzz Kemper, co-owner of Audio for the Arts

-       Gabby Parsons, Music Director of WMMM Radio

-       Jessica Steinhoff, Arts/Entertainment Editor of the Isthmus

4th annual Songwriters Retreat, April 19-21

We are delighted to invite you to attend the fourth annual Madison Songwriters Guild Retreat for Songwriters: A Time to Write, Reflect, and Renew on Friday April 19 through Sunday afternoon April 21.

Songwriter Showcase/Showdown – Thurs, 4/4 @ Tuvalu

Head over to Tuvalu Coffeehouse in Verona on Thursday, April 4 at 7:30 pm for MSG’s Songwriter Showcase/Showdown.  John Duggleby hosts this monthly event featuring great area songwriters, followed by a friendly “American Idol”-type competition with prizes (thanks to Lane’s Lutherie) for original songs (MSG membership required) and an open mic for anyone who wants to perform their compositions.  This month John welcomes Tom Waselchuk and Jami Lampkins of red hot alt-country band The Dang-Its.  Suggested $5 donation, $3 for students/seniors.

This will be the LAST CHANCE to win a monthly Song Showdown and qualify for our May 2  Song of the Year contest between all winners over the past 12 months.  Lay claim to four minutes of fame!

This month’s featured performers are blues, rock and folk notables Jim Barnard, Lynn Smith and Stephen Lee Rich.
